Dr Satish Ranka is a Consultant Occupational Health Physician with extensive experience in complex case evaluations and workplace health. As a director of R-Health Ltd and Lead Selected Medical Practitioner (SMP), he plays a pivotal role in ensuring high clinical standards in ill health retirement assessments and injury award determinations across UK police forces.
In addition to his expertise in occupational medicine, Dr. Ranka is a Responsible Officer (RO), overseeing the appraisal and revalidation of doctors to ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements. His role as an RO reflects his commitment to upholding the highest clinical and ethical standards within occupational health practice.
Dr Ranka is also a Deputy Chief Examiner for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and a Portfolio Assessor for non-specialist pathways to the Occupational Medicine Consultant route. These two roles reflect his ongoing commitment to developing and supporting the Occupational Medicine community through education, mentoring, and quality assurance in professional standards.
Dr. Ranka has a wealth of experience in fitness-for-work assessments, long-term absence management, and disability evaluations under the Equality Act 2010. His meticulous and evidence-based approach has earned him recognition as a trusted SMP, ensuring fair and robust decision-making in accordance with police pension regulations.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Ranka is dedicated to shaping best practices in occupational health within the policing and public sector. He is an Examiner for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine at both diploma and specialist levels. He also serves as a portfolio assessor for the alternative pathway to specialist qualifications in Occupational Medicine and has authored national guidelines for colleague portfolio assessors on reviewing portfolio evidence. Additionally, he is an ARCP panelist for the Occupational Medicine trainee pathway review, supporting doctors in their progression toward specialist qualifications.

Mr Malton is a fully qualified Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist and Member, as well as Vice Chairman, of the Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists. He is a registered Dental Technician with the GDC (Registration: 125530).
Professional Journey
Mr Malton began his career in 1997 at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital as a Trainee Dental Technician and obtained his Diploma in Dental Technology in 2000. Between 2001 and 2003, Mr Malton worked as a Dental Ceramist while attending evening school at Lambeth College to complete his HNC in Orthodontics.
In 2004, he became a Senior Orthodontic Technician at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and subsequently Chief Orthodontic Technician in 2007 at Wexham Park Hospital. During this time, he obtained a Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management from the University of West London.
In 2009, he attended Manchester Metropolitan University, studying Maxillofacial Prosthetics & Technology and qualifying as a Maxillofacial Prosthetist in 2011.
In 2013, Mr Malton became the Laboratory Manager of the Maxillofacial Laboratory at Luton & Dunstable Hospital. During this period, he implemented a 3D printing service and secured funding for a CBCT scanner for the trust. In 2020, he was awarded a Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute.
Since July 2021, he has served as the Maxillofacial Laboratory Manager at Healthcare Partners Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary company of the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford. He has since implemented BSI ISO 13485 quality management systems within the laboratory, focusing on the quality of custom-made medical devices.
Areas of Expertise
His main interests include the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients who have suffered facial injuries or defects due to cancer, including ocular, auricular and nasal silicone prostheses. He is also highly experienced in Digital Orthognathic Planning and regularly participates in joint planning with surgeons to virtually plan surgical movements.
Mr Malton is an expert in the prosthetic obturation of head and neck cancer patients and has worked closely with Dr Ranka for many years to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
Contributions and Achievements
Mr Malton currently works at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford as a Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist and has introduced numerous initiatives, including digital surgical planning. He is both a national and international speaker and has lectured on a range of topics, including 3D Orthognathic Planning, 3D Medical Modelling and, most recently, the NHS England “Getting It Right First Time” (GIRFT) report for Maxillofacial Laboratories at the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Mr Malton enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He has a lifelong passion for DJing and pursues this whenever possible. He also enjoys working on building projects, from home renovations to creating model railways.
Mrs Ranka is a Specialist in Restorative Dentistry including Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics and Implantology.
Mrs Ranka’s main areas of interest include fixed and removable prosthodontics, management of complex restorative cases including oral rehabilitation of patients with head and neck cancer, treatment of toothwear (with a confirmative and reorganised approach), hypodontia (congenitally missing teeth) and implant dentistry.
Mrs Ranka has vast experience in periodontics and has treated numerous patients with periodontitis with a non-surgical and surgical approach where indicated. She has the experience of joint orthodontic-restorative treatment planning for treatment of patients with hypodontia and cleft lip and palate. She enjoys her work of restoring smiles and oral rehabilitation. She qualified as a dentist in 1997 and completed her MFDS in North-East England in 2005. She commenced her specialist training in Restorative Dentistry at the Liverpool Dental Hospital and attained FDS (Rest Dent) RCS in 2012 from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mrs Ranka was appointed as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal Preston Hospital in July 2013 and was the Clinical Director of Dental Specialties from 2016 to 2018. She achieved clinical excellence awards for her work during this time in addition to a charitable grant from Rosemere Cancer Centre for treatment of head and neck cancer patients.
She was the Clinical Audit lead and regularly chaired the Evidence Based Dentistry Forums at the Hospital.
Thereafter, Mrs Ranka worked as Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital for 6.5 years until June 2025. She was involved in the set-up of the Restorative Service for this region, with her specialist interest in Head and Neck Cancer. She regularly attends courses and conferences for continuing professional development and has completed an Advanced Implantology course at the Branemark Institute in Johannesburg, SA. She has published papers and guidelines in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the British Society of Prosthodontics and has been actively involved in the Restorative Managed Clinical Network. At home, she is a busy mum and enjoys spending her time with her husband and son. She plays badminton and her hobbies include crafts, travelling and cooking.
Having completed an honours degree in Biochemistry at The University of Birmingham in 1993, Dr Brock undertook a BDS Dentistry degree at the same institution in 1998, during which time he received a number of local and national awards. Following vocational dental training in Lincoln, he went back to Birmingham Dental Hospital and School to complete a PhD in Periodontology in conjunction with the well known company Unilever, under the supervision of Prof I Chapple. This led to the British Society of Periodontology’s Fish Prize for research. It is also during this period that he began teaching at undergraduate level in Periodontology and Prosthodontics disciplines, in addition to further postgraduate training in Oral Surgery and Prosthodontics. He went on to study for and gain his Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh) in 2005. Subsequent time was spent working in a hospital maxillofacial unit, four months in an ITI programme in the United States and then private practice prior to five years clinical specialty training in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool Dental Hospital and School. This extensive programme provided opportunities to teach both undergraduates in dentistry and hygiene therapy programmes, in addition to delivering undergraduate and postgraduate lectures and table clinics locally, nationally and internationally.
Following completion of specialist training and examination to be awarded his diploma of Fellowship in Dental Surgery in 2012 (Restorative Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh), Dr Brock has undertaken both Dental Hospital and general hospital consultant posts in England, Scotland and Wales. As well as wearing a clinical hat he has continued to engage in undergraduate and postgraduate education delivery and training, including acting as an educational and clinical supervisor for Dental Core Trainees and Specialty trainees in Restorative Dentistry and its allied disciplines. He also acted as undergraduate BDS Year 2 tutor at the University of Manchester (2014-17) in addition to teaching on the postgraduate Periodontology programme. He is particularly motivated by seeing several students under his guidance go on to deliver clinical work, present it and receive national prizes!
He continues to examine for, and has taught on, the MFDS programme for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has recently established a hospital Restorative Dentistry post in a busy maxillofacial unit in Cornwall and is an external examiner for University College Cork.
